It's All Happening Again

For the last few months, I have had what appears to be a series of very short-stay colds that last a few hours at a time.

In August 2015 we stayed in a retirement home for 2 weeks while a wetroom was being installed in our flat. During our stay, I became very unwell then the on-off symptoms of a cold didn't let up for months after we returned home.

I'm now becoming increasingly concerned that history is repeating itself.

This is a link to my posts about the development of visual and auditory disturbances that I experience in February 2016

Latest on Social Care Support lol

It's all fun and games today.

Our local housing department has installed wheelchair access to our flat, but the only place they can put the ramp blocks off access to our gas meter cupboard which is on an outside wall.

Also, I have to walk a much longer distance to put my rubbish out as the ramp's barriers block off access to the area by my door where I keep the bins.

I have mobility issues myself so I'm going to be stuck if it has been raining as the ramp will be too slippery for me to walk down.

How the heck am I going to get the grocery deliveries indoors?

My Diabetes Journey....The Beginning

I know I'm repeating myself but though this would be easier to find with 'Diabetes' in the title

Someone from my local GP practice phoned me about 2 years ago to tell me I had prediabetes, then 2 years later, with nothing else being said to me relating to Diabetes, my GP rang to tell me I had type 2 Diabetes. The same afternoon, the GP's visiting nurse visited me at home and said I should be on meds to lower my blood sugar. Given that for 2 years, nobody from the practice had any input into how I could manage this myself, I basically told him that I would sort things out for myself.

I then visited the site of the GP practice and although they have included a who bunch of stuff from Diabetes UK they missed out any information on reversing type 2 the low carb programme, nor intermittent fasting.

Talk about cherry picking.

Another Epic Fail by My GP Again

I have been telling my GP for years that my thyroid was undermedicated, which massively increases the risk of Diabetes.

He totally ignored me and refused to increase my thyroid meds.

Then yesterday morning he CONFIRMED the Diabetes, which I already knew about as I have a blood glucose meter at home and also have a son who has had Diabetes for 35 years

So....the GP basically, undermedicated my thyroid and has only increased the thyroid meds following the Diabetes diagnosis after my asking him to increase the thyroid meds for 7 years.

Eastbourne Seagull On The Prowl

This is what happens when we follow instructions to leave glass in a bag by the bins. I heard a lot of noise outside and caught this seagull on camera, attempting to carry off a bag of empty coffee and food jars

Little Boxes

With stepdaughter off to University very soon, I remembered this song from my childhood in the sixties and thought it was worth sharing again

Update on the Silly Bin Saga

That song brings back memories, when dustman just picked up the bins and there was none of this 'check website for updates'

So, I wandered down the path on Thursday morning as that was the date of bin pick up stated on our council website, only to find that the bin was where I left it. I got all excited at the idea that the bin had been put back, only to find it hadn't been emptied.

The above is a recap just in case you didn't read the previous post.

I was going to post here on Saturday only the refuse collectors decided to empty my bin a day early with no notice on the council site. Now for my family this is an ongoing minor  annoyance, but what if I had been an older person living alone? How would I be expected to know that refuse collectors just turn up when they feel like it.

On the 12th April our black bins will start getting picked up every other week instead of weekly with the recycling bins being picked up on the weeks in between. I can check with the calendar on-line but how do people work things out when they don'y have the internet or don't know how to find the calendar?

It's been suggested by the Facebook experts who all seem to have huge walled  gardens, that we all get compost bins. I best start saving up to buy a place with a garden where people are going to leave compost bins alone. It must be lovely to live in fantasy land, but a lot of  people don't.
